We are excited to announce that Wisconsin Leadership Seminars (WILS) will once again be holding its annual 3-day leadership seminar for outstanding high school sophomores across Wisconsin in June 2011. WILS is a local volunteer organization that identifies outstanding high school sophomores throughout Wisconsin and provides them with the opportunity and encouragement to recognize their leadership potential. We invite you to nominate one student (plus an alternate) who already exhibits positive leadership qualities in their school and community and/or shows leadership potential that may simply need some added encouragement.
The high-energy weekend consists of team-building activities, motivational speakers (we’ve built relationships with several spectacular speakers), community service, a talent show, a college fair, panels of key leaders from various industries, small group discussions, and more. We encourage leadership development through emphasis on personal responsibility, volunteerism, increased awareness of social issues, and open-minded analysis of all sides of an issue when making decisions. WILS also has an active alumni association that meets throughout the year to keep the spirit and friendships alive.
The students selected to attend are provided this opportunity because they have demonstrated to be responsible citizens in their community and thoughtful individuals in their school. In our society, a great deal of attention and media exposure is given to young adults who act negatively. WILS is set up to provide recognition and growth opportunities to students who act positively and acknowledge that we value their contributions made now and in the future.
2011 marks the 34th straight year that our program will be offered at no cost to the schools or students. The annual seminar is an experience which we’d like to keep open to as many schools as possible, so we’ve adjusted over the years to ensure that the only cost to the students for the weekend is their transportation to and from Carroll University in Waukesha, just outside of Milwaukee.
We invite you to select an outstanding student from your sophomore class to attend the 2011 Wisconsin Leadership Seminar, which will take place at Carroll University in Waukesha, WI on Friday through Sunday, June 17 -19, 2011. Please do not pass up this opportunity to reward an excellent student from your school! The method by which you make this selection is entirely up to you. Please select a student who is a sophomore in the ‘10-‘11 school year. If there is already a nomination process at your school, fabulous! If not, take a bit of time now to determine what you feel to be the best criteria for selection of the nominees from your school. Past leaders have excelled academically, in athletics, extra-curricular activities, or community service. The choice is up to you. It is a leadership seminar, and our goal is to cultivate those leadership qualities in the person you nominate. Please look for an exceptional student who you believe represents the leadership potential of your student body.
Don’t wait; begin your nomination process today! You can nominate students here.
Once your nomination has been processed you will receive a confirmation email. A postcard will also be sent to the nominated student within 30 days of processing their nomination. This postcard will also notify the student that they will receive more program details and their registration packet in April of 2011.
We are very excited about having an outstanding 2011 seminar and working with you many years into the future!
